Health Minister and Chief Secretary pledge to donate organs

Minister for Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada and Chief Secretary to the Government of Nepal Shankar Das Bairagi have announced their intention to donate organs. They have announced to donate their organs posthumously in a ceremony organized today on the occasion of Health Care Day-2022.

On the occasion, Minister Khatiwada said that all Nepalis would be vaccinated against COVID within the next four months. Expressing his commitment to move forward by rectifying the shortcomings in the health sector, he appreciated all the health workers who were active during Covid's time.

In the program attended by Minister of State for Health Bhawani Prasad Khapung, Chief Secretary Bairagi wished success to the day and expressed the view that quality healthcare needs to be extended to all citizens. Health Secretary Dev Kumari Guragain said that significant progress has been made in the covid vaccination campaign.

On the occasion, the Best Health Worker Award of Rs. 100,000 was given to Dr. Jitendra Kandel and the Health Care Award of Rs. 50,000 was given to Dhanakala Thapa, Omraj Acharya, Ram Pravesh Sah, and Yogendra Kattel.

At the same event, 10 health workers were honored.
