Truck driver, two others held with 100kg marijuana in Makawanpur

Police in Makawanpur district on Monday arrested three persons who were allegedly involved in transporting 100 kilograms of marijuana by a truck.

The arrested have been identified as Aite Bahadur Thadamagar (49) of Mahabharat Rural Municipality-5 in Kavrepalanchok district; Raj Kumar Tamang (41), alias Aikla of Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-9 in Makawanpur and Subin Rumba (36), alias Sabin of Kailash Rural Municipality-10 in Makawanpur.

Police confiscated one quintal of marijuana from the truck (Na 2 Kha 9862) heading towards Hetauda from Namtar during a check conducted along the road in Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-1. A team of security personnel deployed from Makawanpur District Police Office seized 17 packages containing marijuana that had been hidden under the false bottom on the hood of the vehicle. Instantly, police impounded the truck and detained its driver Thadamagar and carried out an investigation. Subsequently, Tamang and Rumba allegedly involved in smuggling illicit drug were held from Bhimphedi-1.

Meanwhile, investigation into the case is underway, police informed.
