Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that there will be no electoral alliance with other political parties after the National Assembly election on January 26.

During a meeting of leaders of the Shekhar Koirala faction on Wednesday, Thapa claimed that the electoral alliance would end after the National Assembly election. "Congress is competing alone in all the three levels of elections. There will be no electoral alliance,” he said.

General Secretary Thapa said that the initial indications that the party should follow the rules and regulations were not good. "The chairman had said that everyone should be included and the rules should be followed, but that was not done," he said.

Thapa also said that it would be unconstitutional for the party to form a parliamentary board and select candidates for the National Assembly through the board. He said that President Sher Bahadur Deuba ignored, even though he urged him on this subject.

Thapa also said that the party would not function by excluding Shekhar Koirala. "To say that I will run the party by excluding Shekhar Koirala who got 40 percent votes in the general convention is arrogant," he said.
