A total of 13 writ petitions have been drafted for filing at the Supreme Court against the president's call to form a new government.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Thursday called on members of the House of Representatives to claim the post of prime minister as per Article 76 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal.

The president made such a call to initiate the process for the appointment of the prime minister at the request of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli as per the decision taken by the Council of Ministers on May 20.

According to Baburam Dahal, chief at Writ Division at the apex court, the writs could not be filed due to lack of adequate time to review as it is Friday. He added that while reviewing the writ petitions three were found to have no ground to be filed and the petitioners have been asked to correct them.

As many as six persons including Advocates Kapil Dev Dhakal, Santosh Bhandari, Raj Kumar Yadav, Kalpana Sharma and Ram Bahadur Shahi had come to the court to file the writ petitions against the president's move, according to the Supreme Court administration.

The writ petitions will be filed on Sunday, as per Dahal.
