The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has urged alleged victims of fraud perpetrated by the Tinkune-based Real Gorkha Savings and Credit Cooperative Limited to come forward and contact the police.
According to the spokesperson for the Bureau, Nawaraj Adhikari, following the arrest of certain individuals associated with the cooperative, the police require complaints of fraud against the arrestees to initiate legal proceedings. Hence, victims are publicly urged to get in touch with the police promptly and file complaints against the accused.
It has been reported that members of the cooperative's board of directors allegedly misappropriated a substantial amount collected from cooperative members, promising attractive interest rates.
The cooperative's services primarily operate in Jorpati and various areas of Bhaktapur, with its central office located in Tinkune, Kathmandu. It has been claimed that a total of Rs 123.5 million from depositors has been misappropriated.
Police have already arrested the cooperative's chair, Harka Bahadur Kathayat, and board member Binod Kumar Ojha in connection with the fraud. These arrests were made following requests for police assistance from the victims.
