Devotees have today crowded Gokarneshwor Uttar Gaya (ancestors' pilgrimage site) in the northeast part of Kathmandu to make offerings to deceased ancestors on 'Kuse Aunsi', also known as Father's Day.

According to a religious belief, visiting Gokarneshwor and making offerings to deceased ancestors dating back 21 generations on Bhadra Krishna Aunsi helps them get salvation. With this faith, followers of Vedic Sanatan Hindu and Buddhist religion reach Gokarneshwor Temple on the Day.

On the occasion, those whose father is dead go to temples and perform a shraddha (a Hindu ritual performed for deceased parents).

Hundreds of devotees from various parts of the country have reached the temple early morning to observe the festival, said the temple priest Jagadish Bhatta.

Due to the crowd of devotees, vehicles have been banned from plying the road along the Sundarijal-Jorpati and Bagmati corridor today, said the traffic police circle, Bauddha. ---
