Four held for forging customs tax documents of two vehicles in Kathmandu

Police in Kathmandu district has arrested four persons on charge of forging customs tax documents of two vehicles on Monday.

The arrested have been identified as Kamal Babu Bhatta alias 'Kamal Babu Puri' (33), a local resident of Sundarbazar Municipality-3 in Lamjung district; Madhu Silwal (41), a local resident of Changunarayan Municipality in Bhaktapur district; Arun Khadka (24), a resident of Suryabinayak Municipality in Bhaktapur; and Rewati Raman Niraula (41), a local resident of Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-7 in Morang district.

They were allegedly selling those vehicles. Acting on a tip-off, security personnel deployed from the Minbhawan-based Metropolitan Crime Division (MCD) nabbed Kamal Babu from Gopikrishna Cinema Hall in Chabahil. The police also recovered a Hyundai Creta vehicle with vehicle registration number GA 3 CHA 1462 from him.

During further investigation, police found that Arun and Madhu were buying another vehicle with vehicle registration number PRA 3-010-24 CHA 0253. They were nabbed from Ganesh Temple in Suryabinayak Municipality-6.

The seized vehicles were registered under Kamal Babu's name. On further questioning, it has been revealed that Rewati had made fake blue books (bill books) of those vehicles. He was apprehended from the Pashupati area.

Police also recovered different official stamps of government offices, 191 stamps of Department of Transport Management, different educational certificates, and driving licence documents from Rewati's home while raiding her room based at Shantinagar.

The current market price of the cars is Rs 14 million but they were selling each at Rs 4.5 million.

They have been handed over to Metropolitan Police Sector for necessary action and further investigation into the case is being executed, informed the MCD, Minbhawan.
