A question has been raised in the Parliament on the impeachment proposal against the then Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabara has not been finalized. Nepali Congress MP Arjun Narsingh KC says that the trend of indicting and keeping it pending is the height of lawlessness and a mockery of constitutionalism.

Impeachment against Jabara was registered in the House of Representatives on 13 February 2022. Jabara has been suspended pending the finalization of the indictment.

During the term of the previous House of Representatives, the General Impeachment Recommendation Committee recommended that Jabara be impeached. However, the report with the said recommendation could not be presented in the House of Representatives.

It has been two months since the general election. The parliament secretariat and political parties have not been clear about whether the impeachment brought in the previous term will proceed in the new House of Representatives or not. Therefore, there is still confusion about what will happen to the indictment against Jabra.

Earlier, the General Secretary of Federal Parliament Secretariat, Bharatraj Gautam, had given a letter to Jabara saying that the impeachment against him was effective, saying that the previous term of the House of Representatives had ended.
