Gundu, located in Suryabinayak Municipality-7, is set to become the first industrial village in the district. A huge industrial village is being constructed on 84 ropanis of public land and about one thousand ropanis of locals' land in the place known as Sarki Kholcha. According to MP Mahesh Basnet, the government led by the former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has allocated Rs 10 million
He said that discussions have started with the locals, including experts, about the completion of the industrial village and road construction after reaching the final stage. MP Basnet said, "Three types of industries will come into operation in the area, one will be micro-industries like handicrafts produced without the use of tools, the second will be the use of tools in domestic industries like metallurgy, woodwork and the third will be small and medium industries."
Along with the industry, administrative buildings, green areas, health treatment areas, child care centers for workers, children's villages, processing centers, equipment service centers, and other necessary structures will also be constructed. By developing the area as an industrial city, there is a plan to build infrastructure in such a way that it can be made a residential area by land grabbing and buying houses from industrialists to laborers.
Residents of the area around 200 meters from the industrial village have been able to develop their private land with an area of about one thousand ropanis as an industrial village and run their business on a private level or by renting land for running industry to make a strong source of income. Rabindra Sapkota, ward chairman of 7, said that the master plan for the construction of the industrial village has reached the final stage and discussions are being held with the locals and experts at different stages. He said that after the construction of the industrial village, the region is expected to be developed as an economic revolution, and employment at the local level is also expected to increase.
