Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra Shah has filed a lawsuit and a writ petition in the Supreme Court against the Election Commission's decision to take action against the people's representatives who failed to disclose their election expenditure details on time.
Mayor Shah went to the apex court today and filed the writ petition. The EC had decided to fine candidates including Mayor Shah for failing to disclose the details of the expenses of the local-level elections.
In the writ petition, Mayor Shah argues that he submitted the details to the EC one day after the deadline expired as the last day was a public holiday, and calls for an order from the Court to annul the decision of the EC to fine him and many other candidates.
