Minister for Water Supply Uma Kant Chaudhari has instructed the Melamchi Water Supply Development Committee and all concerned bodies to work to ensure that Melamchi water reaches Kathmandu by mid-April.
Minister Chaudhary, who reached Ambathan, the headwaters of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project, through the Sundarijal Tunnel on Wednesday, directed the Drinking Water Development Committee to fulfill the government's target of supplying water to Kathmandu by mid-April.
Minister Chaudhary was accompanied by Helambu Village Municipality Chairperson Nima Galgen Sherpa, Executive Director of Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee Basudev Poudel and others. During the inspection, Minister Chaudhary said that the contractor had stopped the work for some time a few days ago. He said that the government was ready to make the payment on time but the work should not be delayed under any pretext.
