The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has communicated to the Home Ministry to monitor the situation of Deepak Silwal, who is on a hunger strike.
The NHRC has monitored the health condition of 42-year-old Deepak Silwal of Fedap-5 of Tehrathum. Silwal is on a hunger strike since September 6 at Shanti Batika in Kathmandu, seeking emergency helicopter service to rescue women in labour pains and citizens of rural areas whose need immediate medical attention.
Tikaram Pokharel, NHRC spokesperson shared that a letter has been written to the Ministry of Home Affairs today to save the life of Silwal. "As Silwal's health condition was found to be deteriorating, the NHRC today communicated to the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as District Administration Office, Kathmandu and Police Range Bhadrakali Kathmandu for protecting his life," reads a statement issued by the national human rights watchdog here today.
