Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said partisan interests should not be incorporated in education.
In her address to a programme organised at the Madan Bhandari Memorial School at Jorpati on Friday, marking the National Children's Day, the former Head of the State said the influence of partisan interest in education is capable of taking the nation towards degradation.
She said there should be no incorporation of a partisan lens during the formulation of education policies. "Education should be guided solely by the interests of the nation."
Bhandari further viewed, "We are an agricultural country, and rich in forest, water resources, and fertile land, but we depend on food imports. It is a sheer contradiction, and warrants proper address."
