The police have arrested a Filipino woman with around three kilograms of gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The arrested woman in her early 30s had boarded an aircraft of Flydubai and landed in Kathmandu on Friday night, said Deputy Inspector General of Police Arjun Chand, also chief of the TIA security office. According to him, a team of police in civvies deployed from the TIA security guard office held the woman while she was secretly carrying 2 kg 720 grams gold power packed in five plastic bags hidden inside her inner clothes, he said, adding that she was sent to Gaushala police office for further investigations.
Thereafter, the police sent the seized gold and the woman to the TIA, customs office, said Chand.
Meanwhile, the police arrested an Indian national in Kathmandu with Rs 1 million having no established sources. A team from the Police Circle, Durbarmarg under the district police range, Kathmandu held Rupesh Gupta, 40, originally from Motihari, India, currently living in Sanepa, Lalitpur district, with Rs 1 million of which income sources have not been found, said Superintendent of Police Kumodh Dhungel, also spokesperson for the district police range, Kathmandu. The arrest was made in the course of a security check at Jyatha Chowk. According to him, the confiscated cash amounts were kept inside a scooter Gupta was riding. Investigations were underway, he said.
