President Ramchandra Paudel has urged for effective implementation of constitutional and legal tools relating to the rights of persons with disabilities to bring about progress in their living standards.
In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the 32nd International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the President said that the living standards of the persons with disabilities could be improved only from the effective implementation of the Act Relating to Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
After the declaration from the UN General Assembly in 1992, this Day is being marked on December 3 every year across the world calling for rights to the persons with disabilities.
In his message, the President has also called for promotion of human rights, dignity and social justice to the persons with the disabilities.
The President has also stressed the need of advancing the issues of persons with disabilities for the implementation of the Constitution of Nepal and sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Likewise, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has said that the genuine concerns of the persons with disabilities should be addressed.
In a message of best wishes to all brothers and sisters living with disabilities at home and abroad today on the occasion of the 32nd International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Vice President has wished for their happiness, peace and progress.
The Vice President has said that advocacies being carried out by the government and NGOs should be implemented to ensure rights to the persons with disabilities.
Likewise, Yadav has said that the persons with disabilities should be made self-dependent by providing them with skills and proficiency because their skills, service and capacity is equally crucial for the state's sustainable development.
Similarly, he has called for development of the disabled friendly physical infrastructure and implementation of the laws.
Vice President Yadav has also reminded that ensuring social security, empowerment, participation and rights of inclusion to the persons with the disabilities was responsibility of all as per the constitutional provisions.
