Restriction in Kathmandu valley eased a bit from today

The prohibitory order extended by a week in Kathmandu valley has been eased slightly from today after cases of COVID-19 infection started to decline. The restriction that has been enforced simultaneously in all the three districts of the valley will remain in place till midnight of June 21.

A joint meeting of the chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, on June 13, decided to ease the prohibitory order and extend it till June 21.

During the prohibitory order, people’s mobility will be restricted unless they are out for some very important work. Groceries and shops selling other food items will be allowed to remain open till 11 in the morning. Shops selling drinking water and cooking gas, and department stores will also remain open till 11 am. Vehicles supplying essential goods will be allowed to operate between 9 am and 11 am.

Likewise, stationery shops and printing press will remain open till 11 am. Shops selling construction materials and electrical materials will be allowed to open after 4 pm.

Online marketing and home delivery services will remain open till 7 pm. Vehicle repairing service will be allowed to stay open till 9 pm. Agricultural activities and transportation of agricultural products will be eased but necessary health protocols must be followed. Similarly, the supply of construction materials will remain open between 9 pm and 5 am. Educational institutions will have to conduct online classes.

Banks and financial institutions will be allowed to stay open but with only a limited number of human resources by following the health protocols set by Nepal Rastra Bank. The Insurance Board, insurance firms and Securities Board of Nepal will be allowed to open on alternative days by employing 20 per cent of their total human resources.
