The head of KMC, Balendra Shah, has stated that it is illegal for teachers and employees of Kathmandu Metropolitan City to become members of any political party, fraternal organization or voluntary organization.
A heartfelt appeal has been made to the concerned political parties, fraternal organizations and voluntary organizations to not give any kind of membership, related to party affiliation, to the teachers and employees under Kathmandu Metropolitan City or to cancel the membership, if they own any.
In addition, teachers and employees who have any political affiliations have been notified, through a notice, to immediately renounce their membership and comply with the law.
