With the rising cases of coronavirus infection in recent days, all temples in Pashupati area including the Pashupatinath temple, Guhyeshwori, and others will remain closed from Friday.

However, regular worship will continue unhindered in those temples, Treasurer of Pashupati Area Development Trust Dr Milan Kumar Thapa said.

Issuing a press note today, the Trust said the latest decision comes after the issuance of health protocol by the government in line with the Infectious Disease Control Act, 1964 for the containment of COVID-19 in the country after the reported case with new variants of the virus.

In the Pashupati area, all activities except for the regular Pooja have been banned. The Trust has sought an apology from the pilgrims for the inconvenience caused due to the move to close the temples.

Last year also, the temples in the Pashupati area were closed for nine months due to the lockdown imposed by the government to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

Likewise, the PADT has urged the stakeholders not to exceed the number set by the government for the health precautions even in the funeral procession. All the attendants of the funeral are asked to mandatorily use face mask.
