Police in Kathmandu have arrested three men for their alleged involvement in planting a bomb at an eye hospital in Purano Baneshwor on September 9.

Locals were briefly panicked as the security personnel including a bomb disposal squad of the Nepali Army cordoned off Matrika Eye Center on the day when women across the country were celebrating Haritalika Teej festival.

Those arrested in connection to the plantation of the bomb have been identified as Ashish Kunwar (25) of Dhading, his brother Abhishek Kunwar (40), and Ambar Bahadur Roka (40) of Rolpa.

Spokesperson of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramesh Kumar Basnet told NepalNews that two of them were arrested from Butwal while another one from Dhading, on Saturday. Police issued a press release to inform about the arrests made in connection to the bomb hoax.

SP Basnet said that the culprits had planned to extort money from the hospital owner after planting the fake bomb in the toilet of the eye hospital.

Further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
