Two 12-13th century statues from the Narayan Temple at Hyumat Tole near Teku have been returned to their rightful places in Kathmandu. They were stolen in the 1980s.
An independent American art collector not only returned the statue to the Nepali Consulate General in New York but also covered the costs of delivering them back to Nepal. Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Abigail Aronson joined Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Maheswar Neupane, to welcome these beautiful Nepali cultural artifacts back to Kathmandu.
