On the first day of the new year, devotees have flocked to the Pashupatinath temple and other temples across the country for worship and darshan.
Devotees had been flocking to the Pashupatinath temple since 4 am. Gauri Shankar Parajuli, chief of the Pashupati Area Development Fund's Culture Preservation Division, told RSS that more than three hundred thousand people have entered the main temple in Pashupati Nath as the number of visitors is as high as Teej's.
For the New Year, the fund had hung a Happy New Year banner with decorations on the west main door from this year. Devotees had been flocking to the Pashupati area since morning to celebrate the New Year. He said that about three lakh devotees had visited Pashupati till 5 pm.
The fund has stated that arrangements have been made for the devotees who want to pay obeisance till this evening. Even now, thousands of visitors are queuing up for religious activities including Aarti at Pashupatinath. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Patrol Police were also deployed to manage the visitors.
In Pashupatinath today, on the occasion of New Year, 280 people have cut the receipts and performed special pooja. According to Revathiraman Adhikari, spokesperson of the fund, 220 devotees in Pashupatinath and 60 devotees in Vasukinath performed special pooja by cutting receipts.
Crowds of people have flocked to the fairs this year at the confluence of Gokarneshwar and Budhanilkantha municipalities in the northern part of Kathmandu.
