Barbados, one of the world's monarchies, has become a republic. The Caribbean nation of Barbados became a republic after displacing the British monarchy. The country within the British Commonwealth is now the youngest republic in the world.

Prince Charles arrives in Barbados to attend the ceremony of declaring Barbados a republic. Barbados is also preparing to announce a new president, officials said. Sandra Mason, currently the representative and Governor-General of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, has been declared President.

From Monday to Tuesday, grand programs will be organized from the military parade with various floats. According to international media reports, Prince Charles will address the transitional ceremony to strengthen Britain's traditional ties with Barbados.

Barbados has a population of about 285,000. Until 1834, slavery was practiced in the British colonies for almost 200 years. In 1966, Barbados became an independent nation after independence from the British colony, but the head of state of Barbados remained the Queen of Great Britain.

Mason won the election in Barbados last October as president. Barbados Prime Minister Mia Motley has announced that the country will abandon its colonial past altogether. However, many Barbados believe that relations with the UK are still important because tourism is the mainstay of Barbados' economy and it attracts a large number of British tourists. But the general public is happy that the remnants of the British colony have been completely wiped out. Prime Minister Motley has been criticized for inviting British Prince Charles to honor the "Order of Freedom of Barbados".
