Hanoi to further reopen as Vietnam reports 9,362 new COVID-19 cases

Vietnam reported 9,362 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, including 9,342 locally transmitted and 20 imported, as the capital city Hanoi is to further lift restrictions.

The new infections brought the country's total tally to 766,051, with 18,758 deaths, the Ministry of Health said.

Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 4,134 in the epicenter Ho Chi Minh City, 3,793 in Binh Duong province, and 616 in Dong Nai province.

As many as 538,454 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered, up 10,528 from Sunday, while over 39.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide, according to the ministry.

As of Monday, Vietnam has registered a total of 761,527 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases since the start of the current wave in late April, the ministry said.

To further lift the restrictions over COVID-19, authorities of Hanoi have permitted outdoor sports activities to be resumed and allowed more non-essential businesses including shopping malls, clothing and cosmetics stores to reopen from Tuesday, according to a circular issued Monday.
