India reports 22,842 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday

India's COVID-19 tally rose to 33,813,903 on Sunday morning as 22,842 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, the federal health ministry's data showed.

Besides, 244 more deaths were recorded during the period, taking the death toll to 448,817.

The majority of the new cases, 13,217 infections, and 121 deaths were reported from the southern state of Kerala.

According to the ministry, there are currently 270,557 active cases in the country.

So far 33,094,529 people have recovered and been discharged from hospitals with 25,930 new recoveries.
