India reports 42,909 new COVID-19 cases on Monday

India's COVID-19 tally rose to 32,737,939 on Monday as 42,909 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.

Besides, 380 deaths due to the pandemic were reported since Sunday morning, taking the total death toll to 438,210.

Most of the new cases and deaths were reported from the southern state of Kerala.

There are still 376,324 active COVID-19 cases in the country, an increase of 7,766 during the past 24 hours. The rise in the number of active cases has been witnessed over the past several days.

A total of 31,923,405 people have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far, out of which 34,763 were discharged during the past 24 hours.
