A military coup has taken place in the West African country of Niger. A team of the army announced a rebellion on national television and claimed to have overthrown the president.
The military team has announced the dissolution of the country's constitution as well as the suspension of all institutions since President Mohammad Bazum has been taken into custody by the army since Wednesday morning. The army has closed the borders of the country.
