Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday reported 3,703 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 626,343. Additionally, 819 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the Health Ministry has recorded 41 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 8,813. Presently, there are 52,648 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 476 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 310 cases, Lalitpur logged 99 cases and Bhaktapur logged 67 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
According to the health ministry, a total of 16,913 tests were done in the past 24 hours. Of them, 12,204were RT-PCR while 4,709 were Antigen test.
As many as 4,954 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 564,882 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 90.2 per cent.
As of Tuesday, a total of 3,288,053 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 52,648 persons staying in isolation while 425 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 178.95 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 4,033,573 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in December-2019, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:41 pm, on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.
