Several outbreaks of coronavirus clusters have been reported in Mumbai in recent times. Infections have increased in New Delhi and Mumbai in the last few weeks. In efforts of preventing adverse effects on public health, programs in public places have been banned due to the outbreaks.

The government has banned gatherings in public places and New Year's Eve celebrations in Mumbai, India's financial capital, due to fears that the New Year's festivities could escalate. The Mumbai government has said that curfew will not be imposed at night but gatherings and ceremonies will still be banned.

India's coronavirus infections have been on the rise in recent times. Last week alone, at least 150 people were found infected in Mumbai every day, but today at least 2,000 people have been found infected.
