Police in the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) said on Wednesday that a man was critically injured in a public place shooting overnight in Sydney's southwest.
According to a statement by NSW Police Force, at about 9:20 p.m. local time on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a car park on Canterbury Road in Campsie.
A 27-year-old man was found sustaining gunshot wounds to his head and chest. After receiving treatment from paramedics at the scene, he was transported to hospital and remained in a serious condition.
Later, a car fire was reported on Kilkee Avenue in Kingsgrove, about a six-minute drive from the shooting site, where a sedan had been set alight.
The fire was extinguished by the local fire authority and caused no injury.
Police established crime scenes at both locations, currently appealing to the public for dashcam footage or any related information to the shooting.
