An explosion on Sunday near the Turkish Interior Ministry was the work of "terrorists" attempting a bomb attack, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said.
Two police officers were slightly injured in the explosion at the gate of a police compound near the ministry, said the minister.
"Two terrorists who came with a light commercial vehicle in front of the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of our Interior Ministry at around 0930 local time (0630 GMT) carried out a bomb attack," Yerlikaya said on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
"One of the terrorists blew himself up and the other terrorist was neutralized," said the minister.
The attack took place close to the Turkish parliament, which is set to reconvene on Sunday after the summer break with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan scheduled to deliver a speech.
