Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has said anomalies taking place in health sector would be controlled.

Minister Basnet said so while addressing the 19th National Cancer Awareness Day and 24th anniversary of BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital here on Wednesday.

He mentioned, "The government has now stopped sending senior personalities for treatment at government expenses outside the country. The Ministry has been carrying out activities to control anomalies seen in the health sector."

All should join hands to reform the health sector as there is public resentment towards this sector, said the health minister, while stating that the activities are underway not to let anyone lose his/her life for lack of expenses for treatment.

Sharing that education and health are fundamental rights of the people, Minister Basnet further said that such services should be made free of cost.

The government would support BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital as the Academy, he stressed.

Saying the government has initiated a process to increase quotas for doctors and health workers in hospitals, the Health Minister expressed a campaign to provide health services at villages.

Similarly, Health Minister of Bagmati Province, Uttam Joshi, said all sectors should be serious for the improvement of the health sector.

Public complaints would be lessened if good governance, transparency and accountability are maintained in the hospitals, he mentioned.

"Doctors are coming under attack in recent periods to create disinterest towards the state", Health Minister Basnet shared, stating that such incidents have started increasing chaos in health institutions.

Likewise, Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Renu Dahal, said services provided by the hospital should be made further systematic.

She further said the federal government has to support the hospital for service expansion.

On the occasion, retired employees of the hospital were honoured. A marathon was organised from Chaubiskothi to hospital premises this morning.
