Dengue infection has spread over 71 districts is the country. The Dengue infection that has spread to 57 districts as of May 23, and has now reached 71 districts.
A total of 1,130 people have been infected so far with the mosquito-borne infection in 71 districts, said Dr. Gokarna Prasad Dahal of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division under the Ministry of Health and Population. Last year, 51,143 people were infected with dengue in all the 77 districts.
Meanwhile, 114 people have been infected with Dengue in Kathmandu, 27 in Bhaktapur and 18 in Laliptur. The dengue virus is primarily transmitted from person to person through the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus mosquito.
Symptoms such as high fever, headache, sore eyeballs, body pain, knee joint pain, groin pain, etc. appear a person is infected with the virus.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has appealed to all take preventives measures to avoid mosquito bite, including among others to use mosquito nets, wear long-sleeved clothes, to put nets on the windows and doors of the house and use mosquito repellants.
