An action plan has been made to make the country tuberculosis-free by the year 2050. While inaugurating the TB-Free Nepal Mission Program Review and Expansion Workshop organized by the National Tuberculosis Control Center here today, Minister of Health and Population Bhawani Prasad Khapung pointed out the need for the support of non-governmental organizations, international non-governmental organizations and international partner organizations for this work.
Giving information that tuberculosis free campaign is currently being conducted in 25 local levels, he said that the campaign will be carried out at all local levels within the next four years. Acting Secretary of the Ministry Shyamsunder Yadav said that if the local level searches for such patients in every house and provides the data to the center, medicine can be provided quickly. Manoj Kumar Sah, the head of Janakpur sub-metropolitan city, expressed the opinion that if the campaign can be carried forward in cooperation and coordination with the representatives of the local level, many common people will benefit.
Experts, Dr. Dilg Singh Bam, Dr. Rajendra Pant, Dr. Maheshwar Shrestha and others emphasized that since 17,000 people died of this disease last year due to managerial weakness, now it is necessary to make a strategy to minimize it. In the program where the representatives of various provinces presented, Sanjay Kumar Thakur, the executive director of the center, discussed about the Tuberculosis Free Nepal campaign.
