Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has said the state should guarantee timely and accessible medical care so that the citizens won't have to suffer from its consequences.
Inaugurating the 14th convention of Nepal Chemists and Druggists Association in Birgunj, Parsa on Friday, the Vice President was concerned over the lack of accessible healthcare services among the citizens in remote parts of the country.
Highlighting the contributions of Association, involving in the business of pharmaceutical retailing and wholesaling, in increasing people's access to medical care, Yadav urged the Association to provide its services more efficiently.
He said the government should also take initiatives to address the issues facing drug entrepreneurs.
On the occasion, the Vice President honoured Rajeshwor Prasad Sarraf, 80, who has been in the pharmaceutical business for the past 60 years.
The convention is being attended by 210 representatives including observers, according to Association Chairman Mrigendra Meher Shrestha. The event will conclude by electing a 21-member new executive committee.
