The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the new Corona variant Omicron is spreading rapidly and devaluing it could destabilize the health system.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adanom Gebrias said that Omicron was spreading faster than its predecessor and urged not to underestimate it.

"Omicron is spreading at a different rate than we've seen in previous variants," he told reporters in Geneva. He says some have seen the virus devalued at their own risk.

According to Gebreisus, Omicron infection has been confirmed in 77 countries so far. Estimating that Omicron has probably reached more than 77 countries, he complained that some people have ignored Omicron as a 'normal variant'. He also said that in the next few days, there are indications that Omicron may be the most effective variant in some European countries.

With the confirmation of Omicron, Gabrias also expressed dissatisfaction that some countries have started stockpiling vaccines against the coronavirus for booster doses. Stating that the epidemic will end only after the inequality in vaccines at the international level is removed, he said, "If we end inequality, the epidemic will end. If we continue inequality, the epidemic will continue." But he made it clear that he was not against the WHO booster dose.
