As many as 11 expectant and new mothers have been rescued by airlifting from Achham district so far under the President Woman Upliftment Programme, Chief District Officer Rudra Bahadur Malla said.
The Programme is run by the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens. Under this programme, expectant and new mothers are airlifted free of cost in case of medical complications.
CDO Malla said 11 new and expectant mothers were rescued from the district since the beginning of the fiscal year 2019/20. Two expectant mothers were recently airlifted on August 22.
This programme has greatly benefitted the new and expectant mothers of remote areas at times of emergency, it is said.
