Twelve roads, damaged by the floods and landslides in different parts of the country, are yet to open for traffic. This year, a total of 182 roads were damaged due to monsoon-induced disaster, causing traffic disruption. Currently, 111 roads have only one-way traffic.

The Dumre-Beshisahar-Chame roadway was damaged the most due to the rainfall. Similarly, various local roads in Manang and Lamjung are still obstructed at Timal stream, Dharapani, Ram bazaar, Argale, Bagarchhap and others.

The division road offices and heavy equipment office under the Department of Roads have been making efforts to open the roads. However, there is no condition to open two-way vehicular movement for some days, the Department said.

The Siddhartha Highway, Karnali Highway, Rapti Highway, Prithvi Highway, Mid-Hill Highway were also damaged by the monsoon-induced disasters in several places. Although the one-way opening was possible on these highways, it will take time to resume two-way traffic.
