The infection of lumpy skin in domesticated animals has been found in the scale of an epidemic in Humla district for the past two weeks.
Acting Chief of Livestock Hospital and Livestock Service Office, Humla, Krishna Rokaya said that the office has received daily reports of deaths of cattle and infections of the lumpy skin.
So far, 127 domesticated animals have died of the disease in five rural municipalities in the district and Kharpunath Rural Municipality has the largest number of animal casualties from the lumpy skin.
According to Rokaya, 41 animals died in Simkot, 10 in Namkha and 13 in Adanchuli. Likewise, a total of 1,639 animals have been infected with the diseases.
Rokaya said that the animals have developed the symptoms of high fever and wounds on the body. It is said that the cows giving milk are mostly affected by this disease.
Chief of the Livestock Section of Simkot Rural Municipality, Bishnu Bumi, said that the disease has gone out of control.
For the first time in the district, the disease was seen in 240 cows brought from Nepalgunj and Surkhet. The cows were brought to the district along the southern region of the district through Adanchuli, Tajkot and the district headquarters.
