15 returnees from India test positive for COVID-19

As many as 15 Nepalis who have recently returned from India via Jamunaha border transit point tested positive for COVID-19. The confirmation was made through an antigen test carried out on Friday.

As the second wave of coronavirus has hit India, the country is struggling to curb the spread of the virus. India registered 234,692 new COVID-19 cases, for the third consecutive day that the country reported over 200,000 new cases, taking the total tally to 14,526,609, said the data released by the federal health ministry on Saturday.

The surge of cases in India has led Nepalis to return home to safeguard their lives.

Meanwhile, movement to Rupaidiha across the Indian border has been prohibited in Banke district

Previously, 56 Nepalis who returned home from different cities of India, tested positive for COVID-19 in antigen tests carried out.

At least 49 persons receiving treatment for COVID-19 at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj were said to be in serious condition on Friday. One of the patients has reportedly died in the course of treatment this morning. According to COVID-19 focal person Tej Oli, the deceased is a 37-year-old woman of Ghorahi Sub Metropolitan City-11 in Dang.
