The 15th Republic Day has been celebrated grandly in Hetauda, the capital of Bagmati province. Chief of the state Yadav Chandra Sharma was the chief guest at the program organized by the Republic Day State Main Ceremony Committee.
Chief Sharma, Chief Minister Rajendra Prasad Pandey and Speaker Sanukumar Shrestha jointly inaugurated the program by flying a balloon with a banner inscribed Republic Day.
Chief Minister Pandey stressed on the need to further institutionalize the Federal Democratic Republic established through the sacrifices of the known and unknown martyrs and the sacrifice and penance of the Nepali people. He expressed his gratitude to all those who have played their role for the establishment of a republic in the country.
"From the movement of 1989 AD, we forced the autocratic rule with the rope of constitution. In 2004, when various political parties took to the streets and lost thousands of lives, we are still institutionalizing the achievements we have achieved in 1989 AD." he said.
Recalling that the system has been changing in Nepal at different times, he said that action should be taken to change the condition of the people in the Federal Democratic Republic. He stressed on the need for all three levels of government to work actively for this.
Chief Minister Pandey said that the government was committed to establishing Bagmati as a prosperous state and it was necessary for all to cooperate in this regard.
During the program, the name of the person who will be awarded was announced saying that the best employees in the civil service, journalists, sports workers, social activists and others will be awarded with various prizes. The award will be distributed on the occasion of an event of public importance.
