16 complaints have been filed within the time given by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the local administration to collect the complaints of victims of meter interest. The complaint was registered at the District Administration Office, Chitwan. According to Subba Biswas Shrestha, deputy of the office, the complaint was filed from July 29th to August 5th. He informed that the complaint is being investigated.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had directed the local administration to receive complaints saying that the series of exploitation of illiterate, poor and economically disadvantaged people by the Meter Interest lenders (Meterbyaji) had disturbed hundreds of families. Chief District Officer Asman Tamang informed that action will be taken according to the instructions.

According to Tamang, based on the application submitted to the administration, both parties concerned will be called and discussed. He said that if there is no agreement in the discussion, it will be sent to the district police office for action.

He informed that along with sending it to the police for action, it will also be recommended to the Ministry of Home Affairs. He said, "Banking crimes and cases will be prosecuted according to the Civil Code." He says that no interest can be charged more than customary.
