171 people receive free surgery service

As many as 171 fire survivors of Tikapur have undergone surgery free of cost. The surgeries were carried out in a four-day burn injury treatment camp held at Tikapur Hospital.

A total of 707 people with burn injuries had received treatment in the camp. As many as 177 people having higher complications were referred to Kathmandu-based Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital.

Plastic Surgeon of the Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital, Dr Santosh Bhandari informed that the surgery of those referred from the camp would be undertaken free of cost.

This was the first-ever camp for treating patients with burn injuries in Tikapur, Kailali.

"There was a huge inflow of patients. We had provided services from 8 am to late at night. The burn survivors who did not even get primary aid also turned up to the camp", Dr Bhandari said.

He further shared that, "They undertook surgery of minor cases in the camp at Tikapur Hospital and called for those requiring long-term treatment to come to Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust".

The camp was jointly organized by Tikapur Municipality, Janaki rural municipality and Tikapur Hospital in collaboration with Tikapur Concern Group.

A team of 16 health workers with the specialists of Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital had provided services to the indigent people.

On the occasion, Tikapur municipality mayor Tapendra Bahadur Rawal said the camp was organized to provide service to the people bearing burn injuries belonging to remote areas
