Two more international airlines will operate regular flights through Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). According to the airport office, Thailand's Thai Smile Airways is scheduled to start flying tomorrow (July 1) and Sri Lanka's SriLankan Airlines from July 6. Thai Smile is about to start regular flights from Kathmandu Airport for the first time, while SriLankan Airlines is about to resume flights that were postponed due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
According to Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Thai Smile is going to start direct flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok from Friday. According to NEA, the company has been allowed to fly seven days a week after completing all the necessary procedures. Thai Smile is the official GSA Society International Travel for Nepal.
Thai Smile is a sister company of Thai Airways, a regional airline headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand. Thai Smile started commercial flights in July 2012. The company is flying to 20 destinations in Thailand, including 12 destinations in Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, India and Vietnam.
