The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday confirmed the detection of 2,202 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 670,953. Additionally, 906 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 25 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 9,607. Presently, there are 26,419 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 719 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 531 cases, Lalitpur logged 147 cases and Bhaktapur logged 41 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 1,595 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 634,927 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 94.6 per cent.
As of Tuesday, a total of 3,486,354 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 26,419 persons staying in isolation while 326 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
