460 new cases of coronavirus reported on Tuesday

Nepal's COVID tally hits 280,984

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday reported 460 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 280,984.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 201 new cases of coronavirus infection — 161 in Kathmandu, 28 in Lalitpur and 12 in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. A total of 121 males and 80 females have been diagnosed with the virus.

As many as 153 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 274,318 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Tuesday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 97.6 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,058 with the report of five more deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Of the five deceased, it has been reported that four patients died in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 3,608 active cases in Nepal.

Earlier, the MoHP on Monday had reported 496 new cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 280,524.

As of Tuesday, a total of 2,321,670 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 3,608 persons staying in isolation while 85 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

More than 136.70 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,085,247 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:03 pm, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.

Meanwhile, the health ministry has predicted that Nepal’s COVID-19 case tally could surpass the 600,000 mark with a daily rise of more than 11,000 by the next three months.
