Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Monday reported 7,388 new cases of coronavirus infection, the highest daily record. With this, the COVID count has reached 343,418. Additionally, 60 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the Health Ministry also recorded 37 deaths from COVID-19, the highest daily record till now.
The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,362 with the report of 37 more deaths from the contagion in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 54,041 active cases in Nepal.
The three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 3,666 cases — 2,922 in Kathmandu, 522 in Lalitpur and 222 in Bhaktapur in the past 24 hours.
As many as 2,021 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Monday, at least 286,015 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. At present, the recovery rate stands at 83.3 per cent.
As of Monday, a total of 2,521,164 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 54,041 persons staying in isolation while 212 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 152.94 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,343,177 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 4:51 pm, on Monday, May 3, 2021.
