73 vaccination centre to be operated in Chitwan in second phase of drive

Citizens above 65 years of age to be inoculated from Sunday

Vaccination is taking place in 73 locations of Chitwan district from tomorrow, in the second phase of nationwide vaccination against Coronavirus.

Citizens above 65 years of age will be inoculated in the drive initiated by the government.

A total of 29,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have been received and will be rolled out from 73 different vaccination centres, said chief of Chitwan District Health Office, Dipak Tiwari. 

According to the latest statistics, the total population of people above 65 is 65,606 in Chitwan. Altogether 479 health workers are being mobilised to carry out the vaccination programme.

The vaccination will run for a week until March 13. In the first phase, 13,500 people had been administered the COVID-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, the total number of Coronavirus infections has reached 6,862 in the district. There are still 49 active cases in Chitwan, the health Office said. Of the infected, 109 succumbed to the virus.
