The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Thursday reported 96 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 273,166.
Of the newly infected, 42 are reported to be females and 54 are males.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 42 new cases of coronavirus infection — 30 in Kathmandu, nine in Lalitpur and three in Bhaktapur — in the last 24 hours. Of the newly infected in the valley, 16 are females and 26 others are males.
As many as 111 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 269,505 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Thursday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.7 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.
Likewise, the death toll from COVID-19 has reached 2,058 with three more deaths from the disease in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,603 active cases in Nepal.
Earlier, the MoHP on Wednesday had reported 125 new cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the COVID-19 tally to 273,070.
More than 109.97 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,535,112 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:04 pm on February 18.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
