Today's first meeting of the Bagmati Province Assembly convened at noon has been disrupted following the protest from the opposition party's lawmakers.

Nepal Workers and Peasants Party's parliamentary party leader Surendra Raj Gorsai commented that the provincial government's budget for the upcoming fiscal year was imbalanced and hence demanded an amendment in it.
He warned that they would continue with disruption of the parliament until amendment in the proposed estimate of the revenue and expenses for the upcoming fiscal year 2023/24 was considered. He blamed that the leaders of the ruling parties only considered their respective constituencies rather than prioritizing health, education and agriculture production among other sectors while allocating the budget.

According to him, of the total budget, 27 per cent was allocated to Dhanding, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk districts, which he argued, did not comply with the natural law.

When Speaker Bhuwan Kumar Pathak had announced the name of the another Province Assembly member to participate in the deliberation, the parliamentarian from the opposition party protested chanting slogans and picketed the well.
Speaker Pathak then postponed the meeting for an hour and rescheduled at 5:30 pm today itself. Agenda for today's province assembly meeting was to deliberate on the recently proposed budget for the Bagmati Province.
