Bibeksheel Nepali founder Ujwal Thapa dies at 44

Founder of Bibeksheel Nepali and campaigner of ‘alternative politics', Ujwal Thapa, is no more. He was 44.

Leader Thapa died in course of treatment at Nepal Mediciti in Lalitpur today. 

The fearless leader popular among youths was diagnosed with COVID-19 a few days ago. Initially, he was admitted to HAMS Kathmandu from where he was referred to Grande Hospital. Further, he was referred to Lalitpur-based Nepal Mediciti Hospital after his health condition became critical, on Friday.

It has been learnt that doctors applied extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) technology to treat him. He tested negative for the coronavirus infection on Monday, however, his health had already been deteriorated by the time.

Meanwhile, the family members have opted to carry out Thapa’s final rites in private and have urged supporters not to participate.
